Curb appeal may not be sex appeal, but it’s the next best thing when you are selling your house.
Curb appeal is shorthand for real estate agents talking about how a house looks from the street and they use phrases like your Mom did when she helped you get ready for the first big date. Things like – sweetheart, you never have a chance to make a second impression. Also, like that first date, giving a house curb appeal is serious business. If you are thinking of selling, I would be happy to come by and go over some ideas before you go on the market.
Our housing market continues to do well but it’s always slower in the summer. We pick up in the fall again and slow up towards the holidays, but competition amongst houses here in town is strong.
We still have a strong local market. New inventory is coming on very slowly right now. The first half of the year saw house prices rise and the average sale price went to $778. Fairfield County sales were up six percent the first half of the year.
Today, there are 68 homes for sale over one million dollars to over $4,000,000 in Ridgefield. There is a sale pending on Oreneca Rd which listed for over $8,000,000. Fabulous home and land, needless to say, and no, I didn’t get to sell it. (darn)
Average sale price in Wilton is $1,022,191 – in New Canaan its $1,949,639.
This summer has been one of the ten coolest summers in New York since record keeping began in 1869. We averaged 80.5 degrees and ranked seventh on a scale of 1 – 10. Hopefully everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather.
If you know anyone who is looking to buy or sell, please keep me in mind.
